Unikat’s team was quite hesitant at first about ad monetization. They had rough previous experiences with rewarded ads and were still looking for the right partner. Preserving the players’ experience and keeping their audience happy were Unikat’s top priorities. The requirements they have set for an ad solution were:

ayeT’s Rewarded Video proved to be the right solution for the job. The fact that it is user-initiated meant that it was up to the user’s choice whether to interact with it or not. Players were further motivated by the reward that was waiting for them at the end of the video.
ayeT’s team assisted Unikat in determining the best spots to integrate the ad placements into the gameplay. After a series of A/B tests the right “recipe for success” was discovered for each game.
For “Supersoldat” it was rewarded video in exchange for a daily reward. For Feuerwehrspiel a time-shortening booster for some of the mission cooldowns and for Big Bait – a soft currency integration with 5 min. countdown and a daily cap.
Rewarded video proved to be hit. Players received the integrations positively. They saw the ad format as a fair exchange to watch an video and get rewarded. Some used it multiple times per day which led to increased engagement.
The in-game purchases were unaffected and a new stream of revenue from ads was added.
