Connected TV

A Connected TV, sometimes also referred to as Smart TV, is a television with integrated internet that provides different interactive features such as web browsing, social networking, video-on-demand and video streaming as well as regular television content.

Although electronics manufacturers offer a wide range of smart TVs at the moment, people don’t necessarily have to buy a Smart TV to access these special features. It is also possible to make regular televisions smart with upgrades and set-top boxes.

The operating system of a smart TV is usually preloaded or available through set-top boxes. The integration of applications into a smart TV works in a very similar manner to how apps are integrated in smartphones.  So applications can either be preloaded into the device or updated or installed on demand via the App Store.

Additionally, smart TV apps provide access to different file-sharing-platforms and social networks like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter etc.
